Dreans Gets You Thinking, Passion Drives You, Doing It Makes Everything Come Through!
Dreams Gets You Thinking, Passion Drives You, Doing It Makes Everything Come Through!
Yesterday was my debut to Cantoring in church. Pretty grand if i may say so. Grand enough to have me, the topic of the Homily. haha! Well, my voice did crack here n there, but what the heck, i did my duty, and i want to do it again!
The homily yesterday was about Passion and stuff. We often criticise people easily, i do it too, but do we think we can do a better job? Fr. Fred noticed some teens laughing when i was cantoring. Then, he asked, do you think you can do what i did? No one responded. Here we are again, the hypocrites of the world. I guess this is inevitable. But do we go around using that as an excuse, no. It is thanks to Fr. Fred that me reputation is better in terms of cantoring and character. Before mass, i was super scared how people would react to me, say, "Oh my gosh, his singing sucked". So i prayed, and guess what, i was applauded for having the Passion.
I definitely could not have done it without alot of people. Special thanks to Stace who conducted me, Heidi who played the organ, Margaret and the other cantors like Freda for teaching me the tune which i managed to accomplish, Fr. Fred whose Homily answered my prayers, my RG friends who supported me the whole way even after the end, Ian and Matt who came all the way from far away to support me and probably have a good laugh but didnt, and finally, the church for bringing me up to a new level.
This brings me to my topic for today, Passion - Our Driving Force.
For our RG recollection last sunday, there was a story which struck me. It is primarily about this old man who kept going to church to talk to God, but a minister in the church judged him for his bad looks and shabby dressings. He den later found that this old man came from a factory very far away to spend his lunchtime in church.
Using this experience I gained yesterday, you don't have to be the best singer or the best actor to want to sing or act, respectively. Look here, everyone doesn't start perfect. There is always a first time for everything. But, one needs a passion to draw him to make his dream come true. Having the passion is one thing, doing it is another. So why are we all afraid to live our dreams?
We are afraid how people might think of us, right? Look at successful people of today, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jackson and other people. They felt the same thing. The only thing different was that they had the push factor which is the most essential thing when it comes to living their dreams. They had the guts, they didn't care how people who feel even if they sucked. I guess if we want to shine in this world, we got to be gutsy and willing to try. Another aspect of it is faith, believe God will always be there to guide you. If you fail, dun blame him cos he will build you up in another way. Like for me, my voice cracked infront of one or two thousand, not once but 3 times. I thought, this is the end for me. Then, through Fr. Fred, God saved me by bringing me to another level in life, and also, building my self confidence. God works in mysterious ways eh?
So rule no. 1, do not be afraid. Rule no. 2, there is no harm trying. If you fail, its ok, pick yourself up, people are probably gonna forget what happened. Rule no. 3, practice. Rule no. 4, pray!
